I am shopping for home loan.
I have seen several people giving some online quotes.
Now after I send my info and application to the lender and they run the credit check and give me rates.
1) When exactly am I tied up to the LENDER ? after the rate lock or just after submitting my info the lender ?
2) Or can I move to another Lender anytime I want to ?
So until the closing date I am not tied up to any LENDER ? good

I paid roughly $90,000 for my home. It was a TLC home and I’ve fixed it up in the past 9 years dramatically. New roof, new walls, siding, porch, heating system, well etc. My home and property was valued at $275,000 last year. Does equity play a part in this. Am I eligable for an equity loan? I don’t want to go into it without fully understanding what it is–I also don’t want to go to my banker with stupid questions….Another thing. Im looking to build my own home–hence the loan inquisition.

In terms of today’s economy and given all the programs to help people keep their homes, I heard from someone that some banks are just modifying loans with high interest rates, by lowering them to 4 or 5%. Is this true? Is there a program like this avaliable?
This is in the case that someone is near or in foreclosure because of some financial hardship.

I heard that I can get a car loan. I found a car that I liked, It costs about 10k. My credit is above 800. Is there a specific credit union I should go to to get the car loan? The closest here is Golden 1 and Schools.

My husband and I are just starting to think about purchasing a home. However, I don’t know how to get started. Should we go find a house we like first? Should we call a realtor? We probably won’t be buying within the next 90 days. It is more like a longer term goal- maybe 4-8 months in the future or even longer. We just want to know what kind of loans we can get and what all of our options are.
Should I be talking to lenders or real estate agents? Where should we start?

I am thinking about assuming someone’s homeloan who has paid on this loan for about 1 yr. I think it is in a place where the market for homes sell fairly quickly.

I have grants from a first time home buyer program within the city of Houston and I am needing to find a loan officer that can help me. I have called several and they no longer or do not know how to process these grants.
